Point of View

The novel is told in the third-person point-of-view through the eyes of many major and minor characters. In most chapters, the narrator follows the characters closely, peering into their thoughts and understanding of the world. This creates some interesting situations where the characters are limited in what they can see or do. For example, toward the end of the novel, Adam is blindfolded by his friends to keep the demon from seeing where they are. His chapter is described by the sounds and feelings of the world around him. Furthermore, the main characters are equally divided between each other and minor characters, such as Neeve, are only given a single chapter.
