Summary

In Chapter 29, Henry meets with Gansey and convinces him to go to an old building on the school campus. They drop into a pit in the basement and Henry reveals that he was kidnapped as a child. Gansey becomes more nervous as they walk and Henry tells him that his mother haggled for his ransom. It is revealed that both boys were ten when they experienced traumatic events such as Gansey being killed by bees. Henry asks if Gansey trusts him then puts an insect in his hand.

In Chapter 30, Henry manages to calm Gansey down and reveals that the insect is actually robotic. He shows Gansey that he can control it with an app on his phone but Gansey neglects to tell Henry his secrets. Henry reveals that Declan gave his mother two robotic bees.
