Part III—Pages 145-149 Summary

In Part II, pages 145-154, Trent is back in his office in Vermont looking at the transcript of the interrogation with Jason Dorrant. Trent remembers walking out of the interrogation room after obtaining Jason's confession and smirking at Sarah Downes to let her know that he obtained the confession. Sarah confronts Trent, saying that Trent made the boy confess because it isn't possible that Jason is the murderer. Sarah tells Trent that it was Brad that murdered Alicia and that they have him in custody. Trent's dispatcher interrupts his thoughts to let him know that Sarah is not answering her phone and Trent knows that Sarah will never return his messages. Trent also knows the senator won't be calling him either. the dispatcher reminds Trent of his meeting with the chief, which they both know...
