In Part II, pages 62-72, the senator's limousine picks up Trent to take him to interrogate Jason Dorrant. Trent finds Sarah Downes with the district attorney's office in the limo. She is there to brief Trent on the case during their drive.
PART II—Pages 62-72 Analysis
Trent sense some doubt in Sarah's tone as she talks about Jason Dorrant being the perpetrator. Trent's ability to pick up on this tone is what makes him so successful during interrogations. When Trent questions her on this, she admits that she is not convinced because there is no physical evidence that points to Jason. Trent realizes that Sarah reminds him of his wife, Lottie, which foreshadows a relationship forming between the two as the work on the Bartlett case together.
