Chapters 4-6 Summary
In chapter four, Penn meets with his father. Tom Cage refuses to divulge what is bothering him, telling Penn nicely to mind his business. Penn asks if it has something to do with Judge Leo Marston, a man who had represented another in a case of malpractice against his father years earlier. Ray Presley had often worked for Marston in one capacity or another, even keeping an eye on Marston's daughter, Livy. Penn and Livy had been lovers in high school and had run into Presley more than once. Dr. Cage does not elaborate, telling Penn that he will take care of things himself. Penn asks his father if he ever discovered why Marston had attacked Dr. Cage, and Dr. Cage replies that he has never known but believes it may have had something to do with Penn's relationship with Livy...
