Summary
Part Two opens with the transcription of Document No. 2, which describes how Yehya was injured, allegedly while passing through the area where the Disgraceful Events occurred without himself being involved in the protests. The document carefully notes that there is no evidence to support this account, insinuating that Yehya may have been one of the protestors. Tarek reads the document and considers all of the ways the situation could have run differently so that Yehya would arrive in the care of some other doctor. As he worries, Tarek doodles on the page an outline of Yehya, with a dark circle at the lower abdomen, then deliberately erases them both.
Meanwhile, a week has passed in the queue. The southern woman collapses and is taken away. There are two important arrivals who affect not only Yehya...
