Summary
In Chapter 20, “Secrets,” Owen and Evie are thrilled with the jump. They find a canoe and a door, and Owen quickly understands how to open the door. Evie jumps again and Owen follows. Under the water, he sees fabulous jewels, stoppered bottles, and weapons. He tries to show Evie but she is unable to see it. Owen feels compelled to try to see the treasure again. Evie seems to believe he sees it, but she makes him promise that he will not jump into the cistern without her. Owen really wants to search for the treasure more but he does make the promise. He asks if he can shorten her name to Evie. While she insists that everyone use her full name, she agrees that Owen can use Evie as a pet name.
