Summary
Lilliet continues her performances of Faust. She wonders if she will ever be visited by Artistafeo’s ghost. She believes that Simonet’s book was Artistafeo’s opera he was writing for her up to his death. However, she does not know how to ask Simonet how he found it. Finally, she decides to meet him. He shows her the diary and the brooch, confirming that they are both hers. Simonet takes Lilliet to a chapel and admits that he found them lying on an altar. Lilliet asks him about the ending and his hesitation tells her that he did not write the story. She refuses the part and leaves.
Lilliet now believes that the Comtesse is behind the opera and searches for a way to meet her. Lilliet goes to Comtesse's dressmaker and gets him to...
