Summary
Lilliet attended the masked ball and found a way to escape when the tenor was distracted. While escaping, she met the pianist (who she had begun to call her composer) and the two slept together. Afterwards, she left for the train station, intending to go to her mother's family. However, Lilliet decided she did not want to live that life (forced to wear one mask and be married off to someone), so she bought a ticket for Paris and left to find the Comtesse.
After sending a letter to the Comtesse, Lilliet decided to visit Euphrosyne who was about to be married to an unnamed man. The later encouraged Lilliet to find the Comtesse as she is now in great danger. Lilliet does so, and decided to speak to her, as Lilliet no longer wanted...
