Point of View

The novel is written in first person, entirely from the view of a mortal girl named Jude. Jude was born in the mortal world but grew up in Faerieland, a magical place where she became immersed in the culture and came to accept that world and all its inhabitants. That aspect of her character is seen when she enters into an agreement to hunt down a cannibalistic character named Grima Mog. Jude accepts the information about Grima Mog because of her experiences in Faerieland. She also knows how to gain the upper hand in that altercation because of her knowledge of the redhats. Her personal experiences, detailed in the first two novels of this series, are an important part of her perspective.
