Summary
In Chapter 10, Jude gathers some things from the woods because she was supposed to be foraging. She talks with Madoc who reveals he is going to challenge Cardan to a duel. He says Cardan has ruled with the threat of that prophecy hanging over him and that he will take the chance to “prove he's a good ruler” (94). Madoc continues to talk and says that Taryn killed Locke. Jude does not deny it, and Madoc clearly approves. He promises to remember that she was loyal to him. Jude knows it is not in Madoc's nature to keep anyone safe. She knows that she is in danger of revealing her true identity the longer she remains, and that she has to leave immediately.
In Chapter 11, Jude manages to leave the camp and reaches the cave, discovering that Madoc is keeping a prisoner there. She...
