Summary

In “Collaboration,” Josh asked Saoirse “to help him with his book” (193). He wanted to write the story of her family, and tasked her with giving him notes from her life. Although she thought the idea “self-centered,”, she agreed (194).

In “Chapters,” when she was not caring for Nana or Pearl, Saoirse took notes. She hoped the project would bring her and Josh closer and help Josh understand her.

In “Zones,” Eileen learned that Dirt Island “was part of a massive re-zoning of farmland for development” (197). Richard wanted her share because it was “the most valuable part” (197). She had not cared about the land, but decided to withhold it from Richard to make a point. Then the family learned that “Chris had sold the farm” to Richard (198).

In “Acid,” Eileen did not want to tell Nana about the farm, afraid of upsetting her.
