Pantown

Pantown is the neighborhood where Heather's family lives. It was built as part of a car factory. The homes were meant for the laborers at the plant, and the unique feature is that a series of tunnels connect all the houses through the basements. Except for that, the neighborhood seems very typical of other middle-class neighborhoods of the time and place. Most of the houses seem to be very similar, with the master bedroom and other rooms on the ground floor and two bedrooms upstairs. Like some of the settings, the community of Pantown is real. However, it has apparently been fictionalized for this novel.

Heather's House

Heather's house is typical of the homes in Pantown. This is a two-story house with a basement that provides access to the tunnels. Heather and Junie each have their own bedrooms, and Gary has a home office. This setting is important...
