Summary

In Chapter 4, Heather rushes to her mother's bed, “terrified to discover her cold and solid” (24). When Connie stirs, Heather hides the reason and depth of her concern. Connie is beautiful, just like Junie. Heather continues to hold onto her same out-of-style haircut to hide her burned-off ear. Connie promises to come to the fair to see Heather's band play, but Heather knows she will not. Heather suggests spaghetti for dinner.
