Summary

This story is divided into three reoccurring sections, with each section told from the first person perspective of the character at the forefront of the story at the moment. The story begins on Alison’s 60th birthday. She is all alone because her daughter has phoned with an excuse and her husband is off working. He has also neglected to call or acknowledge it in any way. Alison has been married to Barry for many years but the two are estranged. He is a script editor who works on location while filming occurs and she works for the national parks services.
