Summary

In Chapter 19, Nik texts her friends about the breakup. They meet at Cupcake Park. Nik retreats to the kitchen, where she, Dana, and Courtney drink bourbon and talk. Nik explains what happened, first telling about the enchiladas, Jessie, and her visit to the hospital. The friends are shocked she went out of her away for Carlos, believing it proves her feelings. Nik ignores them and tells about Carlos’s profession. Courtney asks why Nik is scared to be loved. Nik uses her other relationships as examples of the ills of love. Her friends say Carlos is neither Justin nor Fisher.
