Summary

In Chapter 1, Nik Paterson attends a Dodgers game with her boyfriend Fisher and his friends. During the game Fisher proposes to Nik on the scoreboard, spelling her name incorrectly. All eyes turn to the couple as Fisher kneels and holds out a ring. Nik is overwhelmed as the two have only dated for five months and have never discussed marriage. She does not say yes. Fisher is outraged and rushes out of the stadium with his friends.

A few rows behind the scene, Carlos and his sister Angela feel bad for Nik. When a camera crew approaches her, they step in. They intercept the cameramen, pretending to be Nik's old friends, and rush out of the stadium. Nik thanks them. Carlos offers her a ride home.

In Chapter 2, Nik gets into Carlos's sports car with the siblings. Her phone is filled with texts...
