Part 2: Chapters 2-5 Summary and Analysis
Heschel continues to look at the theology of pathos and contrast and compare it. He feels that it is better understood when compared to other theological points of views. Heschel admits that the idea of pathos is both a paradox and a mystery. He explains more about the theology of pathos but the reader will see that as pathos is detailed it creates other questions. Heschel also discusses Tao, meaning the way, and the fact that it forms an antithesis to the prophetic idea of God because Tao is unchangeable and you are to do away with all feeling and obtain a type of peace.
