Structure
The Promise of a Pencil is a memoir of author Adam Braun, a young entrepreneur who established the nonprofit that he named, “Pencils of Promise.” The book is structured in a chronological manner with the main focus on the establishment of his nonprofit organization.
Adam first tells of his childhood in Greenwich, Connecticut. He credits his parents for the characteristics he developed that would enable him to become successful, work hard and focus on those who were not as fortunate as he was. His father was a strict disciplinarian with a kind streak and was one of Adam’s heroes.
