President Jonathan Lincoln Duncan
President Jonathan Lincoln Duncan is the main character and narrator of much of this novel. He is depicted as being in the middle of a highly troubled first term of presidency. He is facing the threat of impeachment but cannot discuss the issues that put him in the position for impeachment because they are a matter of national security and he does not trust the people with whom he works to keep what is happening a secret.
In addition to the threats he is facing in his public life, Duncan is also battling several issues in his private life. He lost his wife recently to cancer and is still mourning her death. In addition, he suffers a blood disorder in which his platelets often drop to a very low level putting his at risk of internal bleeding or strokes. As he faces the impeachment threats...
