Chapters Twenty and Twenty One Summary

They head to Paradise, hoping to find the transmitter Sam's father hid. John takes the Lorien solar system out of the chest and floats them in the air in the truck, distracting them all for a little while. In Spain, Marina makes tea for the sisters, crushing three pills into one cup and delivering it to Adelina. After curfew, Marina tiptoes from the room. Thirty seconds later, Adelina joins her, swaying and unsteady so Marina picks her up and floats her down the hallway. Legacy greets them happily and Adelina helps Marina to open the chest before falling totally asleep. Marina looks through the contents and sees a glowing red crystal. It is warm in her hand, growing brighter, and pulsing with her respiration. She tries to wake Adelina and drops the crystal. The light...
