Summary
In Chapter 14, Myriam visited her husband in jail. After, she returned to The Hanged Man’s House, in Chapter 15, and Jean Sidoine asked her to listen to the radio broadcasts and record the BBC news bulletins. When Anne talked with her mother about the research, in Chapter 16, Lélia noted that Myriam said her time at The Hanged Man’s House “was probably the happiest time of [her] life” (387). In Chapter 17, Myriam paused her recordings of the broadcasts because the situation had become more tenuous. In the following chapter, she continued to live alone in the cabin, in a state of semiconsciousness. When Vincente returned, he brought Yves Bouveris.
