Summary

In Chapter 12, Lélia and Anne travelled to Les Forges to visit the Rabinovitch’s old house and speak with the neighbors. When they found the house, the current owners were terse and uninviting. The mother and daughter knocked on a neighboring door and the couple invited them in. They explained what happened to the woman who harbored Resistance fighters but were cagey when asked other questions. Before Anne and Lélia left, the husband gave them the address of Madam Francois, whose mother was the housekeeper for the Rabinovitch family. After visiting Madam Francois, Lélia and Anne found a note on the car telling them to visit Monsieur Fachère.
