Summary
In Chapter 9, Sundew and Willow sleep in Hazel's room. Sundew's instinct is to be on guard in this strange place, but she is quickly lulled to sleep by Willow's presence. When she wakes, her first instinct is to “focus,” but she allows herself to “pause for a moment to be happy” (96). Sundew thinks about Cricket, Blue, Swordtail, and Bumblebee. She doubts that any of them need her. Sundew and Willow discuss the possibility that Queen Wasp will figure out where the LeafWings are hiding, and Sundew feels uneasy about her actions for the first time. Sundew and Willow leave Hazel's room. Sundew asks a “veiled” question about Willow's relationship with Hazel, and Willow says Sundew is “the only dragon for me” (98).
