Summary
Beginning on page 301, the narration describes events of October, 1942. After the death of Winchell, and after the speeches of anti-Lindbergh leaders like Roosevelt, Lindbergh flew solo in his airplane to Louisville to reassure crowds there, but on his return flight to Washington, his plane disappeared. In response to this, Vice President Burton Wheeler took command of the Presidency and imposed martial law on the country, arresting all Jewish government officials and claiming that Lindbergh was kidnapped by Jewish conspirators. Germany then claimed that Lindbergh was actually in Germany, meeting with Hitler, but Lindbergh’s wife called these claims. Then, at the urging of Lindbergh’s wife, Wheeler was removed from office, and the federal government held special elections for the Presidency and Congress. Roosevelt won the special elections in a landslide, and Congress became controlled by the Democrats. Not long after, the Japanese bombed...
