Summary

In Chapter 37, Lucy takes Theo back to the water. In Chapter 38, thinking about the unrealistic nature of their relationship and her impending return to Phoenix (which he does not know about), Lucy finds herself nauseous, throwing up in public, feeling like she is “dying” (179). In Chapter 39, Lucy goes to the rocks alone and thinks about Theo and about Jamie. In Chapter 40, Claire’s husband calls Lucy after finding she tried to kill herself. Claire survived and is now in the psych ward at the hospital. Lucy goes to visit her. In Chapter 41, Lucy meets Theo at the water and dejectedly informs him she has her period.
