Summary

Chapter 14 opens with an email about losing baby weight. Charlie makes another pass at Colette and she turns him down again. Charlie comments on how “it’s been three months” (202). The couple bickers, but love each other. When Colette gets to the mayor’s office, Allison, the mayor’s assistant asks Colette if she saw anyone take anything from the mayor’s office. Colette says no and Allison blames herself. Allison tells Colette she cannot wait in the mayor’s office anymore. Allison gives Colette an envelope that was delivered to the office for her. The mayor’s office is setting up for a press conference, and Colette is sure that Midas has been found dead.
