Summary

The thirty-seventh chapter takes place on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 5:45 p.m. and is titled “The Chief.” The Chief interviews Thomas who says that he was out with Benji and his friends after the rehearsal dinner. Abby called him and said to come back, but when he got back she was asleep. He went downstairs and had a drink with his father, and then Featherleigh and Merritt showed up. Thomas admits that he had an affair with Featherleigh, but says that he had ended it and had not attempted to try and drug her. The Chief goes home and talks to his niece, Chloe, who tells him that she dropped a tray of glasses near the beach. The Chief goes back to the station and talks to Nick.
