Section 10: pages 75-82 Summary
Emerging from the river to rejoin Grover and Annabeth, Percy tells them about his encounter with Echidna and the chimera before they return to the train. In Denver on June 14, seven days before the summer solstice, Percy, Annabeth and Grover try to figure out how to earn more money since Gladiola's owners were not quite happy enough to see him so they could only buy tickets this far. Annabeth orders Percy to hide out of sight while she and Grover raise money, and as he grumbles about the plan, he receives a collect call from Camp Half-Blood on a water spout. Percy accepts Luke's call, and Luke explains that Iris, Goddess of Rainbows, sometimes carries messages since monsters can track cell phones, but she will discontinue service if she is not paid.
