After his final exam, Percy storms out of the classroom when Mr. Brunner references his specific learning needs and how he is not normal. When Grover joins Percy at the bus station unexpectedly, he reacts oddly when he notices three old ladies knitting socks, but when he goes to buy a ticket to ride to the city with Percy, Percy sneaks away because he does not want his friend to see his home. At his mother's apartment in the Upper East Side, Percy happily hugs his mother, Sally, ignoring the lectures from his stepfather, Gabe.
