Summary
In Chapter 40, Justin tells April that he knows the house does not belong to her uncle and that his dad purchased him a ticket home. On the way to the airport, in Chapter 41, the college student is quiet and distant, he chastises April for making him an accomplice to crime and refuses to draw a parallel between his unsanctioned use of his father’s credit card and her trespassing. April does not return to the house and sleeps in a truck stop parking lot.
April sees a sign for Asheville, when she wakes up in Chapter 42, and decides to drive to North Carolina. She heard that the city is like Ithaca, but larger, and feel that it could be the right place for her.
