Summary
In Chapter 11, April is afraid that her father will press charges against her for taking the car and decides to lift the license plates off of a car in town to put onto her vehicle. As she unscrews the license plates, the screwdriver slips and she cuts her hand. April cleans the wound in the campground bathroom and bandages it with a piece of fabric.
The next day, in Chapter 12, April stops at the pharmacy to buy a pair of fingerless gloves to cover the cut on her hand. On her lunch break, Adam, a regular, starts up a conversation and, after learning that April is sleeping in her car, offers her his futon. He tells her that he “know[s] what it’s like to be [her] age” and wishes that someone had helped him at that time (85). April is skeptical...
