Summary
Chapter 17 is titled “Abrahe Iudio, Witness Testimony recorded by Lucien, The River Port at Carcassona.” Lucien notes that Abrahe is a 33-year-old Jewish wine merchant. He says he gave wine to a woman and his wife gave her an apple, and that the woman then went south. He initially says he will be staying here for a few days, but by the time he finishes talking to Lucien, says he is leaving immediately because “the climate can turn treacherous” and he wants to be “far from here” (92) when that happens.
