Summary

Bobby went for drinks with Oiler at the Seven Seas. They continued discussing “how a three million dollar jet aircraft [could] wind up in the Gulf of Mexico with nine people dead in it” (78). The story still had not appeared in the papers. Bobby then told Oiler about the men who had come to his apartment asking “about the plane” (78). The men agreed it sounded like a government coverup. They also knew that Taylor’s wanted to stay out of the case because it was suspect. Oiler then invited Bobby to join him on a job in Venezuela, replacing “a run of old flange joints” on an oil rig (80). Bobby had no interest in doing the dive. They discussed fear, love, and Bobby’s grief.
