Summary

In Chapter 62, Amy and Peter reached Telluride on the second day. Amy suddenly stopped on the crest of a mountain and pointed to a wall of trees. She headed toward a gap in the undergrowth that Peter realized was a fence. Peter believed there was nothing there but suddenly heard someone singing.

Amy and Peter followed the sound of the singing and emerged in a clearing where a woman was hanging laundry. Before the woman even turned around, she greeted Amy. She recognized Peter and compared him to Amy’s toy rabbit. It was Lacey. She said she had been waiting for them.

In Chapter 63, on the way to Texas, Alicia had been sent ahead as a scout. She came riding back quickly reporting that the Many of Babcock were headed up the mountain after Peter and Amy.
