Summary

Chapter 56 includes more sections from Sara’s journal. On Day 39, Sara and the others found virals dead as a result of a fire. To Sara, they looked human and she almost felt sorry for them. Amy said they had felt fear when they were dying. On Day 49 Sara announces in her journal that she plans to marry Hollis. She says they have decided not to tell anyone yet.

On Day 53, the group finds a farmstead. The largest house looked like someone lived in it until not very long ago. It is not until six days later, Day 59 that the group leaves the farmstead. Theo and Mausami stayed behind to have the baby there. On Day 67 Peter and the others finally reached Colorado.
