Summary

Chapter Eight: Odile continues in Paris as Odile helps Boris close the library when she finds Paul. Miss Reeder catches them kissing and asks what Odile will do with her first paycheck. Odile is just happy that she will not end up destitute like Caro. She buys two tickets to Fontainebleau for Rémy but feels that he is becoming more detached the closer the war is getting. She tells him to try a live show at the Library for proof that people do care. On Thursday, Odile sees Margaret at Story Hour and she thanks Odile for recommending such a good book. Rémy is impressed by Bitsi’s storytelling and Odile is surprised when he invites Bitsi for a drink. Odile and Margaret sort donations as Odile teaches her some French.
