Summary
In Chapter 19, Sylvia and Adrienne spent time with Margaret Anderson. They discussed theater, music, and visual art when they attended the symphony and visited their favorite bar, The Monocle. As 1926 progressed, Sylvia became more encumbered by her legal battle with Samuel Roth and her relationship with James Joyce became more strained. She started a petition, signed by renowned artists and authors, to stop the piracy of Ulysses.
Sylvia spoke with Cyprian, in Chapter 20, about their mother’s ailing mental health. Cyprian, who lives in California to be close to Eleanor, was concerned about the strain their parents’ relationship was putting on their mother and was unsure how she could ameliorate the situation.
