Summary

Chapter 24 is set in 1993 in New York. Elle receives a phone call from her Granny Myrtle. She sounds lost and confused. Henry and Mary have moved Granny Myrtle to a nursing home even though Elle had promised her Granny Myrtle she would not let that happen.

Granny Myrtle begs Elle to come and get her. She says that Mary and her friend came and moved her because her blood pressure had spiked. She called Henry and he told her to go with Mary. Elle hears her granny talking to someone else in the room, telling him that she does not know him. She hears a man’s voice and her granny screaming.

Elle is delayed at the rental car facility and then again by traffic. By the time she arrives at the nursing home, the nurse tells her she is too late...
