Part Three, The Truth: Now, May 1998 and Then, November 7, 1997 Summary

On the first day of testimony, all the main characters prepare to go to court. Melanie and Michael go in separate cars; Gus and James travel together; Barrie spills her coffee; Jordan's son interferes with his routine of eating chocolate cereal before court. Chris is allowed to dress in a suit and is escorted in to the courtroom in shackles. Jordan immediately demands that the shackles be removed before they can taint the jury's opinion of Chris. Barrie begins the case with her opening remarks, telling the jury that Chris took Emily to the carousel, got her drunk and killed her in order to keep her baby from ruining his future. Jordan tells the jury that Chris and Emily entered into a suicide pact, intending to kill...
