Summary

This section begins with Patrica's first person narration as she listens to Dennis's truck come down her driveway. She realizes that she truly enjoys having him around and she loves his company. Dennis brings her lunch and her mail. The two open a letter from Patrica's editor and it is a check for a substantial amount of money. The pair is excited and Patricia is amazed at the outpouring of love she gets from the fans of her books. However, she does not want to be drug back into the world of humans again.

The narration then shifts to an omniscient third who talks about Maidenhair and Watchmen, who volunteer to sit in a tree named Mimas. Watchman is nervous about climbing into the giant tree but Maidenhair calms his fears. The pair stay in Mimas and discover that the tree is an...
