Summary

In Chapter 1, Hoskins woke with pain throughout his body and knew it was the cancer. He was determined to shoot Ralph and the others as the creature had told him to do. If it turned out the creature could not take away his cancer, Hoskins decided that he would shoot himself. As he drove to his spot at the Marysville Hole, Hoskins wondered if perhaps Ralph had Hoskins sent out to the barn intentionally, knowing that he would be infected.

In Chapter 2, Hoskins checked out a shed on the property of the Marysville Hole before he climbed to his sniper’s perch. He saw a car inside that he assumed had been driven there by his visitor.
