Summary

In Chapter 39, Emily went with Adam to have lunch with Pammie, James, and his new girlfriend, Kate. Emily was jealous that James had a new girlfriend even after everything that had happened. Adam told everyone about the baby, and Emily was confused to see that Pammie looked more afraid than anything. James and Kate announced they were getting married, and Emily looked for signs that Pammie was hostile to Kate, but things seemed sweet and normal between Pammie and Kate.

In Chapter 40, Pippa threw Emily a baby shower which Pammie was not invited to. Charlotte came, though, and Emily was happy to have her old friend back in her life. Adam came home drunk and was upset that Seb was at their apartment. He kicked everyone out and he and Seb exchanged angry words.
