Summary
Chapter 56 begins with Eva trying to outmaneuver Mikhail; she failed. The two then declared a kind of truce and Mikhail offered her sanctuary in Israel if she agreed to cooperate with their operation. She agreed, then demonstrated how to operate the SVR communications device.
Chapter 57 reassumes Gabriel’s viewpoint as he and the team set up shop in the old Israeli ambassador’s house, which was since abandoned and in disrepair. The team was joined by Ilan, a computer expert, who deconstructed Eva’s SVR communications device in order to intercept the data it transferred.
Chapter 58, another in the continuing sequence of short chapters, takes Rebecca’s perspective as she recalled her upbringing as a spy trained by her father, his handler Yuri Modin, and Sasha. She remembered 1988 in Brussels when, while she worked for MI6, she learned her father died. She...
