Summary
Sade continues her interview with Jenny, only revealing that she and Femi “had come without their parents and that something unexpected had happened in Nigeria. Something dangerous enough for the children to be sent to London” (85). She does not tell Jenny about what happened to her mother or who Mrs. Bankole is. Jenny tells the children that she will plan to apply for asylum for them to stay in the country as refugees. Sade cannot conceptualize the idea that she will be counted as a refugee, a person she has only ever really seen on television. Jenny and Mrs. Graham assure Sade that they will begin working to find her and Femi warmer clothes for the British winter.
Sade and Femi sit and watch cartoons on the television together and Femi begins to beg her to see if she can reach their father...
