Summary

Diana receives a call from Richard explaining that Kendra Rae is alive and well. Diana has been working with a friend of hers, Imani, who went to cosmetology school and invented a hair product that causes Black women to abandon their cultural pride and assimilate better with white coworkers. She complains to Imani that many of their organization’s “Lead Conditioners”—one of whom is Hazel—tend to become competitive and push other Black women out of their jobs.

Nella meets Malaika for a workout session at a gym. When Nella explains to Malaika that she has been asked to meet with Jesse Watson, Malaika insists that she should use Jesse to expose Hazel’s lack of allyship.
