Summary
Jaime and Ángela ride the bus together and he busies himself with his sketchbook to make the long trip more bearable. He draws the other people riding on the bus. An elderly woman asks him to draw a picture of her and Ángela encourages him. She is delighted and asks him to sign the photo. A few hours later, the bus is stopped by border patrol agents who ask the driver if anybody new has gotten on the bus. The driver is waved through the checkpoint. They stop at several more checkpoints and Ángela prays for them. The guards accept bribes from passengers carrying contraband items. A woman is identified as a Central American migrant and hauled off the bus. Jaime and Ángela grow more nervous but Ángela lies perfectly and they continue safely on.
Jaime and Ángela finally get off the bus...
