Summary
In Chapter 29, America reads the letters that Maxon had given her. They are letters that he wrote to her while she was with her family professing his love to her. In them he finally says that he loves her.
The engagement party is taking place in Chapter 30. Everyone is there. Maxon accuses America of trying to plan a time to meet Aspen. He says that she can keep the house, but he wants his letters back. Then America sees a guard kill Celeste. America realizes that rebels have gotten into the palace wearing stolen uniforms. Then the shooter aims for America. Maxon tries to get her out of his aim, but misses. Aspen shoots the rebel. Then he gets Kriss, who is hysterical, away. While this is going on, America realizes that Maxon was shot and goes to him. He tells her...
