Summary
In Chapter 17, Quinn recalls attempting to give his son music lessons in order to share his love of music with the boy. However, the boy showed no aptitude for—or interest in—music, which greatly disheartened Quinn and made him feel like he could not truly connect with his son. A week or so after Quinn and Ona arrive back in Portland, Quinn continues to help Ona prepare for the driving test.
In Chapter 18, Ona lies sleeping in her bed at night when she is awoken by a loud clangor in her house. She goes downstairs to see two masked burglars in her home.
