Summary

Chapter 10 resumes the portion of the novel that takes place in 1995, which had last been covered in Chapter 7. William has fashioned a service hole into the boarded-up bedroom door, through which he passes back and forth food, drink, and a chamber pot. William retrieves a grocery list from Bobbi and drives into town. At this time, it is revealed to the reader that William still lives outside of Fort Derry. William runs a number of errands, including going to the pharmacist for his sleeping pills. At home, William drugs Bobbi and Melinda’s beverages with the sleeping pill. Once William hears they have fallen asleep, he uses a ladder to carry them down to the bottom of the hole, where he has set up two hammocks for them.
